Line Mechanic I Lighting
We are a leading contractor in the electrical distribution industry responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of overhead and underground lines and equipment. We have a large presence in the Canterbury community with a local Christchurch Head Office - so you may already know us, your rangatahi might play sport in a team we sponsor, or you may have seen our Community BBQ kiosk supporting local events. In addition to our Christchurch location, we are across New Zealand with purpose-built depots in Tawa and Cromwell.
Grow, care, connect - three words that mean a lot around here. At Connetics we believe in #AllWays Connecting and we don't just mean people to electricity. For our kaimahi this means connecting to development and learning to grow your career, making a connection with workplace legends like yourself who become your trusted work partner, and importantly being connected to an employer who cares for you, your family, and our environment. While the work might be the same at any employer, what makes the difference is who the employer is, who your work mates are, and how you are supported to grow, care, and connect.
The Role
If you're a registered Line Mechanic with experience in overhead line construction, street lighting maintenance and renewals, or a background in distribution and supply, we'd love to connect you with this opportunity.
In this role, you'll typically work alongside another electrician or line mechanic, using an EWP to carry out critical tasks supporting the CCC Lighting maintenance contract. Safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship are at the heart of everything we do.
You'll be joining a friendly, social team that genuinely looks out for one another and is fully committed to maintaining a strong safety culture. We value people who communicate clearly, bring a positive and open mindset, and feel confident sharing new ideas.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Some work-related travel is required, as you may be needed across different locations to maintain and restore networks.
There is also the opportunity to join the fault response team, with access to overtime work on a 24/7 roster.
We offer
At Connetics we understand that when your work environment fits your values and lifestyle, it's a better place to be. We connect you to a range of benefits from employee perks like discounts on everything from tech to bikes, or care for your wellbeing like flu shots and mini-medicals. We trust you to get the job done, will focus on supporting your development, and offer you a great work environment.
We will also connect you to:
- Competitive pay ($35.27-$43.26/hr) with OT at T1.5 and all after hours fault work paid at T2
- Long service leave from 10 years (and every five years after that!) and additional annual leave (after six years)
- Purpose built depot filled with all the right gear to get the job done including onsite supply and staff car parking.
- Reward and recognition programmes, annual remuneration review, and regular one to ones with your leader to keep the focus on growing your career
- Career progression with opportunity to grow into leadership or specialist roles (like estimating, or projects)
- An active social club that will supercharge your connection to great workmates.
